Hello, and welcome to Sutton Road Nursery

As of 7 October 2013 we are officially open. Fully Ofsted registered, we are ready to talk about any childcare you need. We take children from 3 months up to 5 years, and we offer holiday care as well.

Call Nicola or Kerry on 0161 223 8223 to talk about your child’s early years, and how we can make these first steps happy, rewarding and fulfilling. Our prices are competitive, and fully trained staff, working to the Early Years Foundation Stage, are here to give your child a special start.

Still in the neighbourhood we know

Sutton Road Nursery was set up when Manchester City Council stepped back from childcare in its Sure Start centres, including Gorton, Openshaw, Droylsden, Newton Heath, Levenshulme and Longsight. For many working families, private childcare cost considerably more than the council provision they were losing.

Kerry and Nicola brought the management and most of the staff with them. They stayed in an area they already had deep links with, where they had been providing childcare for more than 15 years. The building they secured on Sutton Road had itself once been a Sure Start centre.

After investing in the equipment the children needed, the nursery opened on 7 October 2013. The local community made the team feel welcome on Sutton Road, and that welcome still shapes the way families are greeted at the door.

Funded places

NEF hours, with room to add more

Since opening, we have been inundated with requests for childcare places. The government provides 15 hours to all children aged 3 and 4. Funded places are also available for some 2-year-olds, where certain criteria have to be met. These places are funded by the government and are known as NEF.

NEF hours can be topped up, so you can pay for extra childcare at reasonable rates. Two further childcare rooms were opened so the nursery could offer another twenty-one places. If you want to check whether you qualify, ring Nicola or Kerry.

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage, and we plan from each child’s interests, with real trips out into the community.

Healthy menus, no fried food, and a kitchen awarded the top food hygiene rating of 5.

The rooms are dressed for the season. Our Christmas displays are part of how the nursery feels like a place children recognise.
