The kitchen

Proper food, and a hygiene rating of 5

Healthy, tasty, and enough for a busy day

Here at Sutton Road Nursery we want to provide everything your child needs, and that includes proper nutrition while they are with us. Our menus are healthy and tasty. They contain what a child needs to grow, and the energy they need to have fun, learn, and keep a healthy balance.

We do not serve any fried food, and we keep a healthy eating policy, including healthy snacks. We do not serve sugary drinks, carbonated or otherwise. The only drinks we provide are water, milk, and fresh juice occasionally. Water and fruit are available to all children throughout the day. Crisps and chocolate are not part of the routine.

Food Standards Agency food hygiene rating of 5, very good

November 2015

Level 5 for the nursery kitchen

Sutton Road was pleased to announce a Level 5 hygiene rating for the nursery kitchen, meaning your child’s health and safety are given the very best care. It was the kitchen’s first rating, and the top mark. The team put that down to hard work, and to training that is taken seriously for every member of staff.

The Food Standards Agency scheme describes a 5 as very good. The rating is operated in partnership with the local authority.

Mealtimes are part of the learning

Toddlers wash their own hands and help to prepare the tables ready for lunch.

Older children set the table and serve their own food. They take the job seriously.

Afterwards, children sort recyclable waste. It is a small responsibility, and they are proud of it.
